Summer Reading - The 2015 Every Hero Has a Story summer reading program has come to a close. The program lasted six weeks and the average attendance of youth per week was 78 kids. This group of kids was a great bunch to work with. The kids read 28,000 pages in a 5 week time frame and the adults read about 35,000 pages in the same time frame. You will be able to tell who these heroes are as you drive around town and see the super reader signs in yards.
Terrific Tuesdays – This summer the library is teaming up with the school for the summer lunch program and providing a book and a craft each Tuesday at noon at the Osborne Elementary School cafeteria. Our super volunteer, Mindy Miller, has been busy reading and crafting with the kids through the month of June. Average attendance has been 38 kids at these programs. Terrific Tuesdays will continue to the end of July.
Fair things – “Reading and Riding” -The Osborne County Fair is coming up and we will be joining in the fun with a special Story Hour before the fair parade. The book, “Duck on a Bike” will be the feature story at 3:15 at the Osborne Public Library. Bring your bike to decorate and ride in the parade after the story!
Once again the library will sponsor the Frog, Toad, and Turtle Races at the Osborne County Fair. This event will take place at 6:30 following the parade at the covered arena. Be looking for that winning entry to race.
Adult Program - Plan to join us for our Color Me Happy event on July 30th from 5-7p.m. Topping the best seller list the past couple of months have been adult coloring books. It seems that coloring between the lines is a therapeutic exercise and adults are loving it. Mark this date on your calendar.
On Display - The library is pleased to feature the pictures of the Duck Stamp winners in the library for the summer. This display is on loan from the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. The winner of the contest this year was Osborne senior, Billie Spears. Also featured is Osborne Jr. High student, Savannah Cannon with a 3rd place finish in her age division. This display will be in the library until the first of August. Stop by and look at all the wonderful work that the kids in the state have done.
