'15 January As The Page Turns

Happy New Year from the Osborne Public Library.  We are ready to start our new year by providing our patrons with the many different resources that they might ask for.

Before we think too far ahead into 2015 we should take a moment to send a shout out to the staff, volunteers, patrons and businesses that gave their time and resources to the library in 2014.  You helped us have a very successful year.

Did you get a new tablet or reader for Christmas?  Don’t forget that you can check out books from the Sunflower eLibrary and the 3M Library.  These are two services that require current library cards from our library.  Stop by and have a staff member show you how to use these resources.

And speaking of Christmas 2014, we need to announce the McFadden Tree Forest Winners.  The People’s Choice award was given to Land of Os Preschool.  They had 108 items for the food bank under their wreath.  The Rainbow Kids wreath and Star Seed tree won for Best Representation of a Business or Organization.  The Farmer’s Bank tree won for Best Representation of a Christmas song and the Osborne County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary tree won Best Representation of a Book.  Curry’s Body Shop tree won the category with most likes on Facebook.  All in all it was a good Christmas season and almost 500 items were collected for the Osborne Food Pantry.

Children’s programs will begin again on January 7th for WAC and January 9th for story hour.  Between these two programs we see about 90 kids in the library each week.

Student artists for the month of January are 7th grade student Rhyann Brown and 10th grade student Derek Naegele.  Their artwork is on display in the front of the library.

The Brown Bag Special will be on January 20th in the community room at noon.  The topic will be “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?”  This will be a presentation on non-designated assets.

Remember, if you are looking for a book and the library does not have it, the staff can always see if we can get it in from another library.

Our hours are, M & Th – 10-7, Tu, W, F – 10-5 and Sat. 10-2.  The library is closed on Sundays.

The online card catalog can be accessed from our website, www.osbornepubliclibrary.blogspot.com  or at http://catalog.ckls.org    If you are having problems looking things up let us know at the library, 346-5486, and we will help you.

The library is a wireless hotspot.  This service is provided by Nex-Tech.
