Sunflower State Book Festival

The book festival schedule is as follows:

Friday, October 8th

3pm to 5pm Leif Bearing the talking tree outside the Osborne Public Library

4pm to 7pm open house for Nancy Pickard at the Osborne Public Library

Nancy is the winner of the Don Coldsmith Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is given annually to a distinguished living Kansas author. Nancy’s latest release, “The Scent of Rain and Lightning” was released this past May. It is set in a small Kansas town. At 6pm, Nancy will give an informal presentation of her style of writing and insights into being a successful author.

Elizabeth Black is the writer of Buffalo Spirits, a novel set in western Kansas and winner of the 2003 Three Oaks Prize for Fiction.

Saturday, October 9th

8:00 am - 10:00 am Author’s breakfast (author’s only)

10:00 am - 4:00 pm Sunflower State Book Festival (doors open to the public)

Osborne High School Gymnasium, 221 W Washington St., Osborne, KS

10:00 - 10:45 Kansas Farm Bureau CEO, Dan Yunk, will host a session for children and parents that features his new series of farming books for kids. The first 25 children to come to the presentation will receive a free autographed book by Dan. Books are a courtesy of Osborne County Farm Bureau and the Osborne Public Library.

11:00 am Presentation of the Don Coldsmith Award to Nancy Pickard. The Don Coldsmith Award is sponsored by Ad Astra Publishing.

11:15 - 11:45 Nancy Pickard will host a session.

Lunch – stand on site

The afternoon will be open for an author’s forum. This will give the public a chance to ask questions to a panel of authors.
